We are excited to introduce you to more of our Sun Badger team. All of our employees are pivotal to your project running smoothly, but some of them you may have the chance to meet. We’re raising the spotlight on our employees and letting you get to know the people you may not work one-on-one with, but that are making the magic happen behind the scenes.
Our state-specific Operations teams are in the background of every project making sure you’re all set for site surveys, property readiness, ensuring you’re meeting jurisdiction requirements, and so much more. But what does it take to keep the Operations team operating optimally (say that 3 times fast)? Well for the Waukesha branch it takes Amanda. She’s incredibly intelligent, task-oriented, and an outdoor fanatic that’s making sure all your i’s are dotted and crossing your t’s when it comes to helping you through your solar install. Keep reading to learn a little bit more about our Wisconsin Operations Manager. Did we mention there’s puppy talk too?
We’d love to hear a little about yourself.
Can you give us a little biographical background on yourself?
Born and raised in Wisconsin, I love the Midwest! I grew up in Pewaukee, WI and graduated college from UW-Milwaukee with a Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing/Entrepreneurship. I find myself very business-oriented, and have a strong passion in event planning as well. Throughout my career, I’ve always worked for small family-owned businesses. Before entering the wonderful world of solar, I worked in promotional marketing for various liquor and food brands. Aside from Sun Badger, I enjoy working as an events assistant for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Metro Milwaukee and Blue Fancy Events.
Any fun tidbits you’d like to share about yourself?
My husband, Jeremy, and I got married in September 2020 and adore our 3 year-old boxer dog named Luna Mae. She loves coming to work with me and getting spoiled by the Sun Badger crew 😉 We enjoy hiking, kayaking, working out together, and spending lots of time with our families/friends.
Which came first for you: the Solar or the Badger?
The Badger! I am new to the Solar Industry and continue to learn more every day. The first step felt right because my best friend’s family started the company.
What’s your favorite thing about the solar industry?
How excited our customers are about renewable energy and the industry’s motivation in creating a cleaner environment.
Ok, let’s hear all about you + Sun Badger Solar.
Which branch or state do you work in for Sun Badger?
I work out of our Waukesha WI branch office
Tell us a little about your roles & responsibilities as Operations Manager? What is a “Day in the Life” like for you?
I am responsible for ensuring a smooth branch operation at our Waukesha office. This includes supervision of our WI Project Management team and our Field Management team to attain weekly project installation goals and overseeing everyone provides excellent customer service. My duties include implementing new procedures to enhance branch performance, staff training and support, streamlining our processes to increase efficiency, representing our branch in meetings, handling escalated customer issues, reporting weekly job status updates, and planning team building activities for all personnel within the branch.
At what stage of the solar journey does your team start working with customers?
Myself and my team step in post-sales at the Survey Phase. Our team begins coordinating a site survey and creating the finalized plan set for their customized solar system. Customers typically ask about potential property readiness aspects, possible “adders” for their system, and to review their final design during this stage.
What unique challenges do you get to help customers work through?
Finalizing their system design, ensuring the plan set meets all utility and jurisdiction requirements, coordinating a safe and proper installation, passing all inspections and seeking “Permission to Operate” in energization of the system. Now that may sound like a lot of inside jargon, but that’s the beauty of working with Sun Badger – you don’t have to worry about it. We’re going to help navigate your project through all of this.
Name a project that has really stood out for you?
There are two projects that stand out to me, both of which are commercial – Tricklebee Café and The Ivy House in Milwaukee. Tricklebee Café is unique being a non-profit and even featured their new solar system on a local news segment they had done. The Ivy House is the first event venue in Milwaukee to go solar!
Let’s dig into helping people going solar.
What would you say to others who want to go solar?
It’s a huge step forward in energy efficiency! There are also wonderful incentives for WI residents (and other states too!). Going solar is a complex process, but a great investment and so worth it!
