frequently asked

questions

I’m not ready to purchase an electric vehicle but can Sun Badger still install an EV Charger while they are putting solar on my house?

Definitely! Since we have technicians already on your property while you invest in solar energy and various forms of solar power, you might as well take advantage and let us handle the EV ordering, installation, and any permitting while we’re at it. Get your renewable bases covered all at once!

P.S. Did you know there’s an EV-only Federal Tax Incentive?!

**The U.S. federal tax credit gives individuals 30% off an electric vehicle charging station plus installation costs (up to $1,000). Must purchase and complete installation by December 31, 2021, and claim the credit on your federal tax return. (https://www.irs.gov/forms-pubs/about-form-8911)

If I purchase my own EV Charger can Sun Badger install it?

Absolutely! Our quotes can include the charger or just everything up to adding in the charger itself!

Will a sub-panel or modifications be required to my existing circuit breaker panel?
It depends on your existing main electrical service panel (aka Fuse Box or Electrical Box 🙂) as well as what heavy appliances are being used and/or what sub-panels are connected to it. You’ll definitely need two open breakers to Go EV! You’ll also need enough electrical energy (juice) to charge up your battery. Our setup and these chargers will run on 220 volts (as opposed to 110V normal prong/outlets in your house) so you can get all charged-up in just 4-6 hours! Our surveyors and lead electricians will look at your panel and indicate whether or not you will also need to upgrade your panel to Go EV safely!

What type of electric or hybrid cars do your EV Chargers work with?
All leading EV and HYBRID models. The ChargePoint comes with a J-PLUG that goes directly into your car’s battery. Tesla vehicles are usually equipped with a J-PLUG adapter upon purchase.
