4 Ways Sun Badger Solar Gives Back To The Community
At Sun Badger Solar, we believe that it is our responsibility to help enhance the communities in which we live. While our day-to-day work of installing solar panels goes a long way towards improving the lives of people in our communities, it’s important that we go above and beyond. After all, the better our community is, the better our lives are. In this blog entry, we are going to discuss a few of the ways in which we give back.

Partnering with great missions
One of the most important ways that Sun Badger gave back to the community in 2021 was by serving as a corporate partner for Habitat For Humanity. Habitat for Humanity is an organization that provides a number of important services to the community, including financial education, disaster response, neighborhood revitalization, aging in place help, and building homes for families in need.
While everything that they do is extremely valuable and necessary, one part of Habitat’s mission that we are particularly fond of is their commitment to using local resources and building supplies to help create homes for people while simultaneously reducing the impact of building. By focusing on sustainable building practices, Habitat For Humanity is not only giving people a place to live, they’re giving them a place to live within a community that is cleaner and more sustainable. When people have better living conditions, they live longer, are healthier, and they are able to make forward-thinking choices that will continue to improve their lives and the lives of others in their communities.
As a solar company, we are devoted to many of the same principles, which is why in 2022 we’re expanding to reach more people in our local communities. Stay tuned to see who we will be working with this year.
We Help People Save Money
Across the United States, energy costs are increasing. In areas where people used to be able to afford the power that they needed, that is no longer guaranteed. There are programs out there that can alleviate some of that pressure, but those programs have limited resources and many people applying for them. One of the best ways to save money on your power bill is to invest a little money upfront in solar panels. With enough solar panels, it is possible to not only save money on electricity, but to actually get paid for extra energy that is collected by your solar panels.
Solar panels are also eligible for a number of incentives that can save you even more money. Through the end of 2022, the Solar Investment Tax Credit will cover 26% of your solar system costs and can be applied to your tax bill. Some people’s tax credits have been enough to pay for a year of taxes, and you can spread that credit over two years. In addition to the Solar Investment Tax Credit, the Modified Accelerated Cost Recovery System (MACRS) allows you to depreciate 100% of the cost of your solar panels in the first year. Check with your tax advisor to determine the most appropriate tax strategy for your unique circumstances.
Some cities and states also offer extra incentives on top of the federal incentives mentioned above. Contact a member of the Sun Badger team to see which incentives you could qualify for.
We Help Reduce Air Pollution
One of the leading contributors to air pollution is power generated by coal. The problem is so pervasive, that coal-powered plants are being phased out or retrofitted to pollute less all around the world. When you have solar panels installed on your home by the solar experts at Sun Badger, you’re helping to reduce air pollution in the short term and in the long term. Cleaner air means healthier and happier communities, and happy, healthy communities tend to continue making choices that further improve their lives and the lives of others.
We Are Committed to Sustainable Building Practices
Sustainable building practices are an important part of being able to keep our environment healthier while also providing people with places to live. Our commitment to Habitat For Humanity is one part of our drive to encourage sustainable building practices, and our solar panels are another part of how we help. By encouraging people to invest in solar panels, we are helping cut down on the amount of unnecessary new buildings. If your home is expensive to heat, cool, or run, solar panels can lower your bills, which means you are more likely to stay where you are instead of moving.
As you can see, our dedication to giving back goes deep.
